Henry J. Warda

Henry Joseph Warda, age 82 of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 5:18 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017 surrounded by his family at home following an extended illness.

He was born on August 1, 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Anthony Joseph and Ethel M. (Matthews) Warda. He graduated from Niles High School, and has lived here most of his life.  He was a full-time farmer, and had proudly maintained the family farm.

Henry was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles. He volunteered at the Berrien County Youth Fair on the Tractor Pull Committee, and competed in the Stock division of the tractor pull.  He enjoyed outdoor activities on the farm, especially snowmobiling.

On October 22, 1955 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles he married the former Jeanette Audrey Klann with whom he celebrated the forty-eighth anniversary of their wedding prior to her death on June 25, 2004.

Surviving family includes their children, Christine (& Craig) DeHart of Niles, Stanley (& Debby) Warda of Berrien Springs, Michigan, Karen Warda of Berrien Center, Michigan, and Tamala (& Dennis) Rahn of Manistee, Michigan; grandchildren Alisha DeHart, Anthony DeHart, Matthew Warda, Ashley (& Brian) Marschke, Wyatt (& Jessica) Kelley, Karena (& Ryan) Wozniak, Kreighton Rahn, Kalera Rahn, and Marial Rahn; and great-grandchildren Audrey, Lukas, Jayli, Khloe, Brielle, Brock, Henley, Allie, Westin, Gabe, and Alyvia.

The funeral service for Henry Warda will be at 11:00 a. m. on Friday March 31, 2017 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles with the Rev. Joseph T. Liss of the church officiating. Committal will follow at Mission Hills.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Contributions in memory of Mr. Warda may be made to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church or to Lakeland Hospice at Home.  Arrangements were made at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home in Niles.
