Arnulfo Aleman

Arnulfo Aleman, 88, of South Bend, formerly of Berrien Springs, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 31, at Ironwood United Pentecostal Church, 4609 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs. Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church, and share memories online at www.allredfuneralhome.com.

He was born July 18, 1928, in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. In his early years he was a ranch hand and a water skiing instructor in Acapulco, and he was in charge of a sugar cane warehouse in the region of Mexico. Later he was a migrant worker for 13 years at various local farms, and he worked for 10 years for Twixwood Nursery in Berrien Springs. He also worked in the Housekeeping Department for Holiday Inn in South Bend for nine years. He enjoyed playing the guitar at home and for church.

He is survived by his wife, Esperanza Lorenzo de Aleman; sons: Librado Aleman (Irma), Arnulfo Jr. Aleman (Natividad), Santos Aleman, Cristian Aleman; daughters: Hermila Granados (Rudy), Ana Delia Aleman, Maria de los Angeles Trejo (Jesus), Lucia Conway (Michael), Virginia Aguilar (Joel); 29 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mauro Aleman Lorenzo; and granddaughter, Nifte Granados.
