Anthony (Tony) John Motycka, 80, of New Buffalo, MI passed away in his home on Weds., May 16, 2018. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.

Tony was born on July 14, 1937 in Cicero, IL to the late Anthony and Mary (Ruda) Motycka. He was a 1955 graduate of New Buffalo High School. After graduation he served his country while in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. Tony ran the family business Tony’s Trading Post in New Buffalo; owned and operated Sinclair Station/Orchard Acres Restaurant in New Buffalo; was a Metropolitan Insurance Agent; owned and operated Ruby’s Truck Wash in Sawyer, MI; and worked at Whittaker Woods in New Buffalo for many years. Tony loved doing many good deeds (and sometimes funny) for his large family, friends and neighbors. He believed in working hard, enjoyed excavating and working outdoors, and was an avid gun enthusiast. Tony was a member of the New Buffalo Rod and Gun Club and the New Buffalo American Legion Post #169.

Tony is survived by his former wife of 33 years-Sharon Motycka; children-Debbie (Rodney) Craig, Valerie (Chris Maroney) Motycka and Anthony (Belinda) Motycka; grandchildren-Brian (Sarah) Craig, Toni (Bobby) Greer, Mallory Reed, Alexandra Reed, Dillon James, Morgan and Hope Motycka; great-grandchildren-Aden and Abby Craig and Cade and Ryli Greer; his furry friend Leo; and many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by brothers-Joseph and James Motycka and a sister-Carole James.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2:00 P.M. at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo with Bob James officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation is on Monday, May 21, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Michiana Humane Society, New Buffalo Rod and Gun Club, or the New Buffalo American Legion Post #169.
