Steven C. Wilkens, 69, of Coloma died on Monday, April 18, 2016 at his home.

Services celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 22, at the Davidson Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Coloma. Burial will take place on Monday, April 25, at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek. The visitation will be from 5PM to 8 PM on Thursday at the Davidson Chapel. Steve was born on Oct 7, 1947 in Benton Harbor to Charles and Ethel Wilkens. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. Steve was employed as an assembler for more than 20 years at Whirlpool and then was employed at the Benton Harbor Post Office for more than 20 years. He retired in 2009. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, softball and bowling. Steve was an avid hunter and loved being around his hunting buddies and his high school friends. He was a strong willed independent person. Steve was also a loving and caring individual who would give anything to anyone who needed help.

He leaves behind his daughter, Samantha Wilkens of Coloma; his 2 sisters, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Tom) Albrecht of Stevensville, and Susan (Mike) Fowler of Forest Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas.
