
Mother Joetta Thomas, 86 went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 12, 2016 surrounded by loved ones at her home. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, May 20 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Benton Harbor.
Joetta was born July 29 in Tarry, Ark, to the union of Timothy and Samantha White. She was raised in Pine Bluff. JOetta confessed to Christ at an early age and joined the Mulberry Grove Church. In 1946, she married the late Joe Thomas and moved to Benton Harbor and they were blessed with eight children. Mother Thomas became a faithful member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in 1992 and served faithfully on the Mothers Board and Sick and Shut In Ministry until her illness set in and hindered her from continuing to serve the ministry she loved.Joetta was not only dedicated and faithful, but also a dedicated wife, mother , grandmother and great grandmother. She was a God fearing woman and enjoyed serving God. She was very giving, kind and compassionate to all she knew. Mother Thomas will be missed beyond words.
Joetta leaves precious memories in the hearts of her daughters, Shitley (Carl) Anderson and Tonda Thomas; sons, Edward (Anita) Thomas, Timothy (Geraldine) Thomas and Anthony Thomas; sister, Dorothy Pleasant; brothers, Jessie White and Timothy White; 30 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; a host of family and friends.
Joetta was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Thomas; daughter, Odester Clubreath; sons, Carrol Thomas and Herbert Thomas; 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
