
Vernon “Dick” Forsythe, 84, of Stevensville, MI passed away, Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at CrownPointe Senior Living Center in Stevensville.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. David Hills officiating. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of service. In honor of Dicks love for sports, please come dressed in one of his favorite team’s apparel or dress casually. Dick was born on January 28, 1932 in Benton Harbor to Homer and Alice (Prestin) Forsythe. He graduated from Watervliet High School in 1950 then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army for three years during the Korean War. Dick was honorably discharged in 1953, later he went on to work for the Berrien County Road Commission as a Surveyor retiring after 25 years. Dick was an avid Johnny Cash fan and sports fan. He enjoyed cheering the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and Michigan State. Most of all he loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports and spending time with his friends and family.
Dick is survived by his children Dave Forsythe of Benton Harbor, Robert (Annette) Forsythe of Benton Harbor, Cynthia “Cindy” (Rick) Rosenthal of Stevensville and Diane (Paul) Drechnowicz of Canton; grandchildren Ashley, Brandon, Austin, Alexandria, Brittany (Seth), Alyssa, Becca, Chelsea, Jami, Ethan, Danielle and Sydney; great-grandchild Elisha; siblings Margaret Ludwig of Coloma, Pat Lottridge of Sawyer and Prue (Rick) Kiekenapp of Coloma.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Stauffer; and brother Prest Forsythe.
