Barbara Jean Pero, 88, of South Haven, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at the River Ridge Retirement Community. She was born March 1, 1928 to Ival and Georgia (Mosier) Broe in South Haven. Barbara graduated from South Haven High School in 1945. She married Fred “Salty” Pero on July 16, 1948 and shared 65 years of marriage until his passing in 2013. Barbara worked at the General Telephone Company, Bohn Aluminum, and Controlled Rubber for a combined twenty years. She was a member of the St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven.
She is preceded in death along with her parents and husband by son David who passed in 1976 and brother Jack Broe.
Barbara is survived by her children – Ron (Pat) Pero and Barney (Jodi) Pero of South Haven, and Maggie (Archie Blood) Landry of Holland, sister – Franilyn Lubic of Portage, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 26, 2016 with Father Jim Morris officiating at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. A memorial luncheon will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the American Legion Post #49. Barbara will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. Contributions may be made in Barbara’s memory to the St. Basil Catholic School, 94 Superior St., South Haven, Michigan 49090.
