Marjorie “Marge” Lillian Barron (August 21, 1925 – May 29, 2017)

Marjorie “Marge” Lillian Barron, 91, of Berrien Springs, went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 29, 2017 at her home. Marjorie was born August 21, 1925, daughter of the late Edwin and Lucy (Weaver) Jones.

She grew up in Berrien Springs graduated from Niles High School and Lee’s Commercial College. On July 14, 1956 in Buchanan, MI at the Buchanan Christian Church, she married Joseph Frederick Barron. They made their country home in Berrien Springs. Marjorie held the office of president of Michiana Area Churches of Christ Ladies Circle for a number of years. She also took turns as president, secretary, and treasurer in the Women’s Circle of her Church as well as many years of teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Marjorie was a homemaker, avid reader and seamstress, embroidery and crochet, enjoyed cooking and baking, entertaining her large sibling family especially on holidays. Gardening was her great passion and the raising of all kinds of flowers. Traveling on vacations while her husband lived, the two sharing in teaching Sunday school. She worked many years at National Electric, Tyler’s, Clark Equipment, and Electrovoice along with many years in Sales, including twenty years with Tupperware and World Book Encyclopedia. Marjorie’s family was the center of her life. Those surviving her include her son, Joseph Edwin (Jenny) Barron; grandson, Joseph Patrick; granddaughter, Julia Elizabeth Barron; brother, Chester (Delta) Jones; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; son, Kevin; brothers, Lowel, Leslie, Ray Jones; sisters, Winona Raven, Donna Davis; and grandson, Joseph Walter Barron.

A funeral for Marjorie will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at First Church of Christ, 2240 Yankee St., Niles, MI 49120. Friends may spend time with family on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at First Church of Christ as well as one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to First Church of Christ. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
