Leona Cheryl Matthews, 59, of Niles passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
Leona “Dolly” was born on March 27, 1958, to the late Shirley and J.T. Jarman in Chicago, Illinois. On December 8, 1983 she wed Alvin “George” Matthews at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Michael J. Jarman of Buchanan, Michigan.
Leona is survived by her children, Dolly (Jarman) Heierman, James Jarman, Melissa (Matthews) Parm, Donald Brittin, and Jessica Jarman; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and siblings, SSGT Jack Jarman Ret., Steven Jarman of Niles, and Tammy (Guy) Mansfield of Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at Brown funeral Home in Niles on Friday, June 9th at 10:00 am. The services will conclude with a funeral procession to Memorial Hills Gardens and visitors will have an opportunity to sign the casket as a final goodbye where “Dolly” will be laid to rest.
