Harold Eldon Peters, 81, of Bridgman, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 12, 1936 in Sister Lakes, MI to Earl and Jennie (Knapp) Peters. He was a U.S. National Guard Veteran. On April 5, 1958, Harold married Janet Briney at a ceremony in Benton Harbor, MI. Harold was actively involved in mission work, assisting with projects in Haiti, Johns Island in South Carolina, an Indian School in South Dakota, and many others. He was a very talented jack of all trades with a huge heart. He was an active member of his church, a former Lions Club member, and was involved with the Bridgman Band Boosters for several years. He hosted many exchange students in his home. His favorite spot was his cottage in Canada that he built by himself and he felt that home was never home without a dog. Harold is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet; sons, Earl (Krisztina) Peters, Glenn Peters; and sister, Norma Jean (Hap) Baushke; special niece, Mary Ann Logreco; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Jennie; special uncle, Glenn Knapp; brothers, Lowell, Allen, Gordon, Norman; and sister, Helen.
Celebration for life for Harold will be held by the family at a later date.
