Mother Lena Mae Robinson, 87 of Benton Harbor, MI., departed this life on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Royalty Manor , St. Joseph. “Granny” as she was affectionately called was one of 7 children born in Marva, Arkansas to the late Anna Johnson and Gaither Robinson on December 11, 1929. Lena grew up in Marva where she attended public school and later moved to Elaine, Arkansas where she united with the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, there she accepted Christ in 1940. During that time Lena met and later married the love of her life the late Rev Willie Robinson Sr. On April 28th 1946, to this union Six Children were born, Willie Jr, Leroy, George, Charles, Rosetta and Richard Robinson, As Granny and Rev Willie Robinson raised their children in St Louis MO. They later moved to Benton Harbor Michigan where they united with the Macedonia Community Church under the Leadership of their son Rev George Robinson. In the year of 2000 Rev George Robinson was called to pastor the St Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Granny later came along and united with the St Paul Missionary Baptist Church Family again under the leadership of her son Rev George Robinson,
Granny, Loved spending time with her family and going out to dinner. Her favorite restaurants were Ponderosa steak house and Popeye’s Chicken.
Growing up in a Christian home and married to a minister, Granny love for the Lord was strong and she was a true solider on the battle field for the Lord. Granny love to sing in the choir and work on the mother’s board.
She will be remembered by her children for making the best banana pudding and baby Ruth cookies you ever taste.
Granny leaves special memories in the hearts of her Children Two Sons’ Rev George (Joanne) and Rev Richard (Shalette) one daughter Rosetta (special Friend L.C). Robinson, All of Benton Harbor Michigan, one sister Erma Lee Johnson of Kansas City Mo, One brother Rev Gaither Robinson of Minneapolis Minnesota .19 Grandchildren, 59 Great grandchildren, 9 Great Great Grandchildren, Special Friends Mother Martha Sherman, Sister Doris Mimms, Sister Mary Cobbs, and Sister Mary Hampton, and A host of Other nieces, Nephew cousins and friends.
Lena Mae ( Granny) Robinson Is proceed in death by her Husband Rev Willie Robinson of 51 years, Three sons Leroy , Charles and Willie, Three sisters Della, Pearlie Mae and Nylie, one brother Billy Robinson, Her parents Anna and Gaither and serval Aunts and uncle.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Family Funeral Home, Benton Harbor.
