
Harold E. Fischer, 88, of Benton Harbor, went to meet his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, November 14, 2017.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday at Blue Roof Church, 3084 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Dan Miller & Rev. Hans Frank officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Harold was born July 27, 1929 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Emil & Emilia (Brudy) Fischer. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1947. On October 28, 1950, he married Betty Jane Lesch in Benton Harbor. Harold was employed at Leco Corp. in St. Joseph for forty-five years, starting as a glass blower of scientific instruments and retiring as general manager of the Ceramics Division. Following retirement, he served as a funeral assistant at Starks & Menchinger Chapel for many years. He was a member of the Blue Roof Church where he served as a board member, sang in the choir, helped with the completion of the current building, and served on mission trips to Germany & Brazil. Harold was an avid University of Michigan Fan, enjoyed wood working, singing & music, and tending to his home & yard.
Harold is survived by twin sons-Duane (Linda) Fischer of Stevensville, Douglas (Sharon) Fischer of Coloma; grandchildren-Rachel Fischer, Karen (Joshua) Cavanaugh, Heather (Steve) Fischer-Bryant, David (Samantha) Fischer; four great-grandchildren-Ava Bryant, David Fischer, Jr., Emma Bower & Aubree Cavanaugh; his sister Alice Mann of Benton Harbor; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty on September 23, 2017, and by his brother & sister-in-law-Erick & Ruth Fischer, and brother-in-law James Mann.
