
Mary Elizabeth Miller, 73, of Benton Harbor, passed away at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph on Monday, March 12, 2018.
A Celebration of Life Homegoing Service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Blue Roof Church, 3084 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Dan Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 10AM until time of service at the church. Mary was born on July 4, 1944, to Daniel & Sadie (Foster) Oliver in Sparta, IL. She graduated from Sparta High School, Class of 1962. Mary married Eliga Miller Sr. in Berrien County. She worked for Riverwood Center as a Residential Aid for more than 15 years before she retired. Mary then went on to be the Activities Coordinator at the Senior Citizens Center in Benton Harbor. She was a member at the Blue Roof Church and helped with the church’s food pantry. Mary also enjoyed shopping, working with the seniors at the senior center. During her employment at Michigan State University Extension, she enjoyed working with people and also being a 4-H and Girl Scout Troop Leader. She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends.
Mary is survived by her husband of 55 years Eliga; children, Ernest (Artenia) Miller of Tennessee, Eliga (Sandra) Miller Jr. of Benton Harbor, Elaine (Verne) Jeffries of St. Joseph, Elizabeth (Larry) Miller-Jones of Benton Harbor, Eric Miller of Benton Harbor, Ebony (Gerald) Wright of Eau Claire, Hebony Foster of Benton Harbor; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and sister Pirley Bracken of Kalamazoo.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Elliott E. Miller and Myron Miller; great-grandchild Emmanuel Miller; and siblings, John Caldwell and Martha Jane Foster.
