James “Jim” E. Martin, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, July 05, 2018, at Hanson Hospice Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 11AM at St. Joseph First United Methodist Church, 2950 Lakeview Ave., St. Joseph, with Pastor Dan Colthorp. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, July 7, 2018, from 10AM until 11AM, at the church. Jim was born on September 4, 1935, to Ned & Doreen Martin in Muskegon, MI. He attended Muskegon High School. Jim enlisted and proudly served in the Army. On May 11, 1959, he married Evelyn Sohasky in Berrien Springs. He worked for P.B. Gast selling cleaning supplies. Once retired he was the custodian for St. Joseph First United Methodist Church. Jim enjoyed bowling, fishing and listening to Rush Limbaugh on talk radio. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post 331 in Bridgman. Most of all, Jim loved to spend his time with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Martin; children, James (Sandee) Martin of Bridgman, Paris Karsten of St. Joseph, Edward (Melanie) Martin of Lynchburg, VA; grandchildren, Jimmy, Krystal, Jessica, Paige, Naomi and Luke; six great-grandchildren; brother Frank (Dolores) Martin of Grand Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ned & Doreen Martin and brother Ned Martin.
