Artie Ruth (Alexander) Mitchell

Artie Ruth Mitchell, age 85, of Mattawan, passed away at home July 16, 2018 with her family at her side.

She was born on December 12, 1932 in Evart, Michigan, to the late Arthur H. and Elvie (Zeller) Alexander. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Sidney Mitchell, two daughters, Mary Beth (Larry) Wolthuis, Joni Lynn (Buddy) Bell, six grandchildren, Greg (Ashlee) Wolthuis, Bradley J. Bell, Lindsay (Jacob) Dragicevich, Amanda (Eric) Lanting, Jill (Dyer) Goosen, Amy Ruth Bell, three great granddaughters, Jaynee Jean and Weslyn Jo Dragicevich and Dylan Reese Lanting along with one sister Velma (late Harry) Fitzgerald. Artie is preceded in death by her sister, Virgie (Vern) Owen, her half-sister, Kathryn Mullholland and two half-brothers Thomas and Kenneth Alexander.

Until her later years, Artie was very involved in the Methodist church where she was part of many church groups. Artie was an avid Bridge player in several Bridge clubs. Being the wife of a Michigan State Policeman, Artie made friends in the various communities where they lived. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Memorial Fund at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church or to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church, 420 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, where a memorial service will commence at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Small officiating.
