Janice E. Beveridge, 71, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 AM, Friday, November 16, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating. Janice was born on April 17, 1947 in St. Joseph, MI to Adolph ‘Otto’ & Erna (Unrath) Wichner. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School Class of 1965. She wed James Beveridge at the age of 19 and they were married until his passing on April 13, 1994. Janice was a naturally gifted women who had many skills and talents. She and James operated a small business repairing Schwinn Bikes for many years in their home basement while both were working together at Burch Inc., operating a printing and binding press. Lastly, she enjoyed her time at Walmart in the arts and crafts department where she shared a talent and passion with many customers. When asked how her day was, wide eyed and with a smile she often replied, “I’m busier than a one-armed paper hanger in a wind storm!” Janice was a real handywoman and in her spare time she enjoyed camping, crocheting, woodworking, various arts and crafts, painting, gardening and embracing wildlife. She was a devoted grandmother and caregiver, especially to her granddaughter Sophia.
She is survived by her four children Elizabeth (Edward) Mayle of Free Soil, MI, Kimberly (Karl) Hess of Coloma, MI, James Beveridge II of Indianapolis, IN, and Courtney (William) Thompson of Benton Harbor, MI; grandchildren, MacKenna Eileen, Frederick Hamilton, John Lewis Gabriel and Sophia Justice, and sister Linda Dine of Michigan.
