Mack Rogers 92 transitioned on November 7, 2018, at Hanson Hospice in Stevensville, MI. Legacy farewell services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Second Baptist Church 600 Donald Adkins Drive, Benton Harbor, MI 49022 with visitation starting at 11:00 am followed by service at 12:00 noon.

Mack Rodgers was born on January 29, 1926, in Andalusia AL to the late Clyde and Annie (White) Rodgers. He crossed the finish line and transitioned on Nov. 7, 2018, at Hanson Hospice Care Center (Stevensville, MI).

Mack moved to Benton Harbor at an early age. He attended Benton Harbor Area Schools. He later attended culinary school in New York. While there he enlisted in the Navy. He served his time aboard the USS Salamaua. He was honorably discharged March 8, 1946. He served during World War II. He was a special cook for the admiral, aboard the aircraft carrier. Mack returned home and went to work for Whirlpool Corp. He retired Feb 1st, 1986 after 39 ½Years. In the 50’s, he became involved in the Golden Gloves, winning several bouts. He taught skating and later developed a skating team named The Winged Hearts. They competed and won many tournaments. He was a professional photographer. He was a professional painter and a handyman. He also worked with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Dept. as a private investigator. He later retired from Target Corp.

Mack became a member of the St. Matthews M.B. Church in 1985. He was ordained as a deacon on Jan. 28th 1990. While at St. Matthews, he became a contractor for the church. With the help of some members, he completed the present building.

He leaves precious memories in the heart of his wife Lillie Dixon Rodgers of 37 years. His seven children; (5 girls) Carol (Jim) Joyner, Cynthia Jones, Lorraine (Ralph) Morgan, Loretta Terry, Amber Wright. (2 boys) Larry Rodgers and Leonard Rodgers. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. One living Sister, Evanell Cannon. A host of Nieces, Nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Proceeded in death by his parents and one sister and 6 brothers.
