Terry A. Soenen, 78, of Sister Lakes, MI, died unexpectedly, but peacefully, October 9, 2019, at his home. A Memorial Celebration will take place Sunday, October 27, 2019, from 3 pm to 7 pm at The Lakehouse Restaurant, 3029 Lakeshore Drive, St. Joseph, MI.

Terry was born on May 24, 1941, in Chicago, IL, to Albert and Roberta (Wilson) Soenen. He graduated from Leo High School, Chicago, in 1959, from Loras College, Dubuque, IA, in 1963, and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He married Janet Pokonosky, on August 14, 1965, in Oak Park, IL. They enjoyed truly happy years together. He was an extraordinary success at balancing Family, Fun and Work. Working for Insituform Midwest, Lemont, IL, from 1972 until his retirement, Terry worked hard to take care of “his guys on the crew.” In retirement at “The Lake”, the center of his world, Terry found complete joy in just being Ter, Dad, PapaTer, a good neighbor and friend to all.

Terry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jan; children, Kris Soenen of Dowagiac, Michigan, Michael (Karen) Soenen of Burr Ridge, Illinois, and Kimberly Soenen of Chicago; grandsons Paul and Joshua Lamphere, and Zack, Luke, and Noah Soenen; and siblings, Kenneth Soenen, Jean (Merritt) Middaugh and Robert Soenen.
