Bonnie J. Mayer, 72, of Union Pier, MI passed away on October 12, 2020 in Munster, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Bonnie was born on March 12, 1948 in Union Pier, MI to the late Frank and Betty (Bradford) Patejdl. On July 30, 1982 she married Samuel Mayer; he preceded her in death on November 14, 2017. Bonnie lived most of her life in Union Pier. She was a bookkeeper at the New Buffalo Savings Bank for many years. Bonnie enjoyed fishing, boating and reading; but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was loved and will be greatly missed.
Bonnie is survived by her children – David Potts of Union Pier, Noel Snyder of Union Pier and Heather (John Gropp) Lau of Michigan City; step-daughter – Shelly (Wade) Gazarkiewicz of New Carlisle; grandchildren – Jasmine Lau, Ryan Lau, Kendel Coursel and Zane Gazarkiewicz; and a brother – Milton Patejdl of Pensacola, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother – Frank Patejdl.
A memorial service celebrating Bonnie’s life will be held on Thursday – October 29, 4:00pm, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. A time of visiting with the family precedes the service from 3:00-4:00pm at the funeral home. To respect the family and others around you, please wear a mask.
