Bernice P. Hathaway

Bernice P. Hathaway, passed away, Monday, September 13, 2021 at Meadow Woods.  Born on July 31, 1934 in Fennville to Samuel and Ida Reed.  United in marriage to the late Bill Hathaway in 1957 at the Pullman Bible Church.

Bernice is survived by her children; Ivan Hathaway, Helen Hathaway, Martha Hathaway and Marc (Carla) Hathaway.  Grandchildren; William , Erika, Michael, Nathan and 11 Great-Grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Barbara Hambly.

Preceded in death by her parents and husband of 52 years Bill Hathaway also preceded by her sisters Marian, Inez, Dorothy, Virginia and Evelyn.

Bernice was Christian woman of strong faith.  A lifelong member of Pullman Bible Church.  She was also and Educator, an artist, a loving and caring wife and mother who always put others first.  She loved to laugh and her children loved hearing her laugh. Her favorite saying was “Pretty good for an old Lady!” Bernice touched the lives of many people and will be forever missed.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at Filbrandt Chapel of Starks Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1076 S. Bailey Ave, South Haven, Michigan 49090, from 11 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 12 p.m. Pastor Wayne Walters will officiate.  Both Bernice and her late husband Bill will be laid to rest at McDowell Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Alzheimer’s Association.
