Rose Ann Greter, 92, of Hartford passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. Private graveside services will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hartford. Rose was born March 9, 1929, in Baroda to the late Harry and Anna Mead. A 1947 graduate of Baroda High School, she studied accounting at the South Bend College of Commerce and later worked at Nylen Products and Bendix Corporation.

Rose lived a life dedicated to her faith, her family, volunteering and helping others. In addition to serving as the director of the Hartford Public Library from 1988 to 2001, Rose volunteered her time to the Altar and Rosary Society at the Immaculate Conception Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Cub Scout Pack 195, Boy Scout Troop 196 and The Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafts, sewing, knitting, reading and refinishing furniture.

Rose is survived by her son, Richard of Hartford; daughter-in-law, Nicole Greter of Portage and her grandchildren: Kai and Emmaline, also of Portage. She is also survived by three sisters: Juanita White of New Buffalo, Joan (Jay) Kettlehut of Ann Arbor and Elaine (Norman) Weingart of Elkhart, Ind.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; three brothers: Harry Mead, Bernard Mead and Milan Mead; and sister, Betty Bammann.
