Walter “Buddy” Ward Jr, 83, of Niles, passed away in the comfort of his home in Niles, on Monday, January 31, 2022.
Buddy was born on August 5, 1938, to the late Walter Ward Sr. and Ella Mae (Reynold) Ward.
After graduating from High School, Buddy went on to join The United Stated Marine Corps, serving his country proudly. Those who knew him knew he liked to have a good time. He enjoyed family gathering; going on vacation with Vada, fishing and bowling. He was the owner of Ward’s Construction Company for many years after retiring from Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan, Michigan. His family and friends will always remember him to be a man that welcomed you to his home and could build almost anything he desired to have in his home.
On September 27, 1959, he wed Vada Mae (Morgan) Ward, the love of his life. They enjoyed dancing together and going to Paradise Lake every chance they got with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife; his sister, Fenella Ward and his twin daughter, Darlene Ward.
Buddy is survived by his children, Arlene Ward of Niles, Walter Ward III of Niles, Kenneth Ward of Houston Texas, Seminar Dixon of Niles and Stacy Dixon of Niles; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many extended family members. He will also be greatly missed by friends, Billy Anderson Sr. of Niles, Oliver Kelly of Buchanan and Carolyn Griffin who he and Vada adopted as their sister.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Niles, with Pastor Bryant L. Bacon Sr. officiating. An interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
