Marjorie Ellen Urness

Marjorie Urness, 74 of Benton Harbor passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph after a brief illness.

Marjorie was born October 15, 1947 to Joseph and Betty Beedon. The couple happened to be visiting their family doctor at his home on an island in Pipestone Lake when Betty went into labor. Earlier in life Marjorie co-owned the travel agency Destinations Unlimited in Coloma for seventeen years. Her favorite work though, was being the tennis coach at Coloma High School for over 40 years. She had a love for both tennis and the children she taught. She also enjoyed her home on Lake Michigan with all its gorgeous views. More recently she enjoyed traveling and fine dining with her fiancé Ron Gaynor. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter Laurie Ann (Jim) Steurbaut of Farmington, Minn.; her son Peter John (Julie) Urness of Benton Harbor; two sisters, Bette (Norm) Marks of Cottonwood, Ariz. and Barbara Weber of Winter Park, Fla.; three grandchildren, Mae Urness, Phillip (Jane) Geibe and Sydney (Eric) Simonsmeier; great grandchildren, Mallory, Bentley, Peter and Mabel; and her fiancé Ron Gaynor. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter in 2011, her parents and her brother Tom Beedon.
