Ester Townsend Jr. transitioned from life to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

Ester was born in Huspuckena, Mississippi to his loving mother Ethel Caldwell, and Father Ester Townsend. Ester shared his mother with two siblings Emanual Hubbard, Benton Harbor, and John Hubert, Benton Harbor.  Ester was baptized in July, of 2013 at Full Gospel by his Brother Emanuel Hubbard and Pastor Carl Horne.

Ester Worked at Bendix, better known now as Bosch, for Thirty-Two years before retiring in 1999.

When you think of Ester “Manson” Townsend Jr realistic should be the first thing that comes to mind, He was a kindhearted provider, and most of all a protector. He did everything he could to make sure that his family never wanted for anything. Ester was a devoted loving husband, brother, son, uncle, cousin, and grandfather.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and most of all fishing, if you started to get on Manson’s nerves, he would tell you in a minute “Dog won’t hunt” basically his own way of saying don’t start none it won’t be none.

Ester and Anna Townsend shared 54 years of marriage; they also shared seven children together.

Ester leaves behind His wife Anna Townsend of Benton Harbor, Children: Latesa Townsend Benton Harbor, Dexter Townsend, North Carolina, Mecha Townsend Benton Harbor, Anthony Grayes Virginia, and Jeffery Grayes (Colorado). Two God children: ShaKenia Guidry Indianapolis, Edward Shaw Benton Harbor. Grandchildren: Jakia Jones Benton Harbor, Dequarius Robinson (Benton Harbor), Taronta Townsend Benton Harbor, AnTaja Taylor Benton Harbor, Dexter Towsend II. North Carolina, Antonio Grayes Virginia, Marquis Grayes Virginia, Unikka Dent Colorado. A total of Eleven Great- Grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Stanley Townsend, daughter, Kavone Townsend, Grandson, Demario Grayes, Grand-Daughter Ciera Grayes, Mother-in-Law Lucinda, sister Cinderella, and Stepfather, Freddie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor.
