Police: Woman killed, dragged through BH apartment building; suspect at large

Police say a local woman is dead after being shot and dragged through a Benton Harbor apartment complex.

Benton Township authorities reported early Sunday morning that a 30-year-old female resident of Benton Harbor was shot and killed at Briarwood Apartments on Saturday.

According to the report, investigation and evidence determined the victim was shot on the second floor of the apartment building at 1957 Union, dragged down the stairway and walkway, and left in the walkway. Police arrived to find the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and she was declared dead at the scene.

Michael Delaney, 32, of Benton Harbor, has been named a suspect and is still at large as of 2 a.m. Sunday. Delaney may have been in a previous relationship with the victim, according to the police report.

Berrien County evidence technicians assisted Benton Township Evidence Technicians with the processing of the crime scene, and Medic 1 Ambulance Service attempted life-saving measures at the scene, according to the report.
