Joann Ruth Heimbuch, born on October 16, 1939 in Kankakee, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023 in Bridgman, Michigan. A loving, loyal, generous and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Joann spent her life dedicated to her family, enriching their lives with her many talents and warm, nurturing spirit.
Joann married her beloved husband, Arnold Heimbuch, on May 2, 1959. Their loving and devoted marriage was a testament to their shared values and commitment, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage before Arnold’s passing. Joann’s loyalty and dedication extended to her roles as a homemaker, making her home a warm and welcoming place for all. Her hobbies included reading, painting, drawing, tending her flower gardens, birdwatching, and quilting. However, she was most passionate about her crocheting, sewing, cooking, and baking – activities she loved doing with her family and grandchildren. She was a loyal member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Buchanan, MI and a devout Lutheran.
Joann is survived by her sons Robert (Robin), John, and Roger (Rhonda), her grandchildren Amy, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Susan, Andrea, and Timothy, her siblings Andy, Mike, Jane, Edith, Pauline, Barbara, Jeannie, James, and Mary and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Heimbuch, her parents Leland and Ruth Anderson, and her sister Judy.
In the Lutheran faith, it is written in Romans 8:38-39, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This love was reflected in Joann’s life, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation for Joann will be Monday September 25, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Glendora from 10:00-11:00am with funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Interment will be at Glendora Cemetery, Weesaw Township. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
In honor of Joann’s life, we encourage those who knew her to visit her memorial page, where you may leave your treasured memories of her and upload photos that celebrate her generous and supportive spirit.
