Joe Porter

Joe Porter “Pig” was born August 20th, 1957, to his mother Luezine Ellis, and father Edward Osby in Batesville, Mississippi.

Joe Porter moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan at an early age with his mother Luezine Ellis where he received his education through the Benton Harbor, Michigan School District.

In Joe’s leisure time during his younger years, he enjoyed skating and playing on his basketball team at Fair Plain Junior High. Joe loved listening to his RnB playlist while lifting his weights or washing his Chevy Truck (that was his baby and boy he kept her clean) Joe was kind, caring, loving, and a very humorous person. He enjoyed making everyone laugh, he was everyone’s favorite family comedian, literally the life of any party he entered. He loved being with family and friends that loved him dearly, especially his grandchildren. He loved all children, and all and everyone’s children loved him, if you needed a good sitter, he was the best at it. Joe was a very protective man who loved his family, especially his mother he did not play about her, Joe will truly be missed by all.

Joe “Pig” Porter Departed his life on March 8th, 2024, at 12:51 am. He is preceded in death by his Father; Edward Osby, Mother; Luezine Ellis, Stepfather; Charles Ellis, Sister; Geniva Osby and Sons; Joe & Mario Gunn.

He leaves to cherish in his memories- sisters; Shirley Ann Porter, Sheila Ellis, Linda Ellis, Leisa Ellis Collins, Annie Mae Osby, and Cheryl Ann Osby all of Benton Harbor, God Sister Gloria Willis, brothers; Carl Porter, Charles Ellis Jr, Ambrose Ellis, Mario Ellis, Albert Osby, Clarence E. Osby, Willie James Osby, Matthew L Osby and Ray Charles Osby all of Benton Harbor, Daughters; Andrea Gunn, Joevena Luezine Porter, Lashaunda Martin, Angel Soto, Jessica Chappell, Kandace Williams and Shannon Dodd, Sons; Joquay Ometrius Porter Travis, Stephen Lamar Gunn, Joey Larkeith Howell, Joevonte Porter, Joeleonn Ward, Joevashaun Ward, Reginald Chappell, and Dakota, along with a host of Grandchildren/Great grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor.
