Kenneth Edward Schoch, a man whose life was marked by service, passion, and faith, passed away on March 22, 2024, in Gobles. He was born on September 25, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, son to the late Stephen Schoch and Lorraine (Campbell) Schoch. Ken’s dedication to his country was evident as he proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1972. Not only did he serve his nation, but he also pursued higher education during his military tenure, earning a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls in May 1967.
Ken’s life was intertwined with his profound love for horses. A talented and independent horse trainer, he found joy in sharing his expertise with others and educating them about the equestrian world. From teaching equine management at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, Wisconsin, to being actively involved in various equestrian groups like Ansata Arabians in Mena, Arkansas, and the Big Rock Valley-Edward Rowe Foundation in Cassopolis, Michigan – Ken’s impact on the equestrian community was substantial.
Moreover, Ken was a devout Christian whose faith was an integral part of his life. He actively participated in the community at Trinity Lutheran Church in Paw Paw where his love for Christ shone brightly.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife Diane (Davis) Schoch, his daughter Sylvia (Don) SaintCin of Otisco, IN, and son Brian (Trish) Schoch of Livonia, MI. His legacy lives on through seven cherished grandchildren: Caleb (Brianna) Sands, Jarrett Sands, Gabby (Kenny Sanchez) SaintCin, Oran (Jenna Mailhot) SaintCin, Joey Schoch, Maddie Schoch, Quinn Schoch; two great-grandchildren Lio and Colton; as well as his two brothers Steven and James Schoch.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 721 Pine St., Paw Paw. A memorial service will commence at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Phillip Phifer officiating. Following services, there will be a luncheon held at the church. Ken will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran School, 725 Pine Street, Paw Paw, MI 49079.
