It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Stanley McKenzie, a devoted military veteran, beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and treasured friend. Stanley peacefully departed on May 27, 2024, at the age of sixty-nine, surrounded by his family.
Stanley, born to the late Evelyn McKenzie and Warren C. Brazziel, moved with his family to Benton Harbor, Michigan, in 1966, where he continued his spiritual journey at Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Donald Adkins. He attended Benton Harbor Area Schools from 1966 to 1972, where his keen sense of duty and patriotism emerged.
Enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, Stanley served his nation with honor, his infectious smile and boundless kindness never faltering despite his lifelong struggle with mental health challenges.
The family expresses sincere gratitude to The Frazier Young Foster Care Home under Mr. and Mrs. Frazier, and their compassionate staff, for their years of dedicated care to Stanley.
Special thanks also go to the Maple Ridge Foster Care under Mr. and Mrs. Dwyer, and Mr. Chris Brown, Registered Nurse, for their invaluable support. Gratitude extends to Mr. Larry Nance and the entire medical team and many others who provided unwavering care during Stanley’s illness; their devotion remains etched in our hearts.
Stanley is survived by his five siblings: Ms. Cathy Cohn, Ms. Beverly Hamilton, Mr. Jeffrey Dudley, Mrs. Sharon (Clifton) Reed, and Ms. Pamela Dudley, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and his cherished Aunt Mary E. Griggs.
Remembered for his kindness, humor, and steadfast devotion to family and country, Stanley exemplified the values of honor, duty, and love.
