It is with immense sadness that we share the passing of Stacey Rene (Jones) O’Hara in her Niles, Michigan home on October 3, 2024. Stacey was born on March 26, 1975, the daughter of Carolyn Callahan and Alvin Jones, and cherished step-daughter of Kary Callahan. Stacey spent her life in the Midwest attending Buchanan High School before heading to the University of Michigan, where she earned a degree in Biological Anthropology.
Stacey loved animals, especially cats. Her house was always home to a few well-loved felines. For several years, she enjoyed working as a veterinary technician in Ypsilanti, Michigan before moving to Niles, where she pursued her passion for nursing. While she enjoyed caring for her patients, her heart truly found its place in hospice care. She provided comfort and support to families during life’s toughest moments, often staying up well into the night to hold the hands of those who would have otherwise passed alone.
Stacey’s greatest joy in life was her son, Ethan Ryan O’Hara. As a devoted single mother, she and Ethan shared a special and unbreakable bond. Always his biggest cheerleader and advocate, she was so proud to see him off to Western Michigan University’s School of Music just weeks before her passing.
Stacey’s compassionate nature will always be remembered and her warmth, love, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Stacey leaves behind her sisters, Jennifer (Matt Beresh) Jones and Ashley (Michael Costa) Jones; step-sister, Anna Callahan; best friend and confidant since nursing school, Sarah Kline, as well as nieces Eliza Beresh, Margot Beresh, and Madeline Costa and nephews, Nicholas Costa and Parker Cribbs.
