Sherrie Ann File, 63, of Vandalia, MI, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, February 13, 2026. Sherrie was born on September 8, 1962, in Dowagiac, MI, the daughter of Donald and Mary Lou (Keesler) Toy. On August 29, 1987, Sherrie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Michael James File.
Sherrie was known by all as the greatest friend, the one who poured her heart and soul into keeping everyone well-fed and taken care of. She could be found at Porky’s Party Place for many years, before she ventured next door to South Pork Catering, where she continued to use her culinary talent to feed the community. Sherrie was a member of the Theta Mu sorority chapter of Beta Sigma Phi out of Dowagiac, MI for 44 years. Her sorority sisters over the years held a huge place in her heart and some of her favorite memories. Sherrie also golfed on the Tuesday night ladies league at Diamond Lake, where she spent many nights laughing and golfing with the girls. She was an avid shopper, both for herself and for others. Sherrie was the “holiday queen” and looked forward to hosting family on any occasion she could. She enjoyed spending every second she was able to with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are Sherrie’s husband, Michael File; her mother, Mary Lou Toy; her siblings, Diana (Larry) Townsend of Charlotte, MI, and Ed (Lee Ann) Toy of Alabama; her three children, Rebecca (Eric) Bailey of Niles, Marcus (Erika) File of Vandalia, and Andrew File (girlfriend, Christianna Covello) of Texas; her cherished grandchildren, Quinn Bailey, Jack Bailey, Henry Bailey, Drew Bailey, Maggie File and Blake File; along with a host of brothers- and sisters-in-law; cousins; and several nieces and nephews, of whom she loved dearly.
Preceding her in death were her father, Donald Toy; and her in-laws, James and Ann File.
A celebration of life will be held a later date where all can join to share their favorite and cherished memories of Sherrie. She will be greatly missed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel, Dowagiac.
