Michael Edward Osborn, 79, of Portage, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 22, 2026, at MediLodge of Portage.
He was born September 15, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Donald Osborn and Alice (Gockel) Nichols.
Mike owned his own construction business for many years and retired from Western Michigan University. He enjoyed keeping active, taking walks, going boating, and attending plays. Mike’s favorite activity was traveling with his beloved wife, Jane, and together they saw countless sights. Mike had a kind and gentle spirit, and he would help anyone in need. His spirit will live on in his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (Thompson) Wendling-Osborn; daughters, Karen Fischer and Stacey Osborn; son, Scott Osborn; stepsons, Ken (Anne) Wendling, Mark (Marilyn) Wendling; grandchildren, Brendon, Garrett, Emma, Damion, and Megan Fischer; step-grandchildren, Alex and Mara Wilder, Catherine Wendling, Jack and Janie Wendling; sister, Donna McNorton; sister-in-law, Linda Osborn, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in passing by his parents and brother, Daniel Osborn.
In accordance with Mike’s wishes, cremation will take place. There will be a funeral service at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Twelve Baskets Food Pantry or Boy’s Town.
