Robert Edward Stringer, 91, of Stevensville, fell asleep in Jesus on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church, 635 St. Joseph Avenue, Berrien Springs, with Pastor Donald Inglish officiating. The family will welcome friends starting at 3 p.m. A meal will be provided after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michigan City SDA Church, the Village SDA Church, or Hospice at Home. Bob was born February 17, 1925, in South Bend, to George Franklin and Mary Mabel (Gillaspy) Stringer. He attended elementary school in South Bend. He graduated from EMC Academy in 1943, and then from Union College with a two-year pre-dentistry degree. He married Gladys Pearl Covert on January 18, 1947, in Michigan City. He served as Head Elder and Church Treasurer in the Michigan City church for many years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Gladys; children: Linda (Edgar) Lockwitz of Stevensville, Robert B. (Susan) Stringer of Berrien Springs, Kurtis (Kathy) Stringer of W. Sacramento, California, and Matthew (Ruth) Stringer of Arcadia, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia; and brother, James.
