Allen R. Willis Sr., 58 of Benton Harbor passed peacefully from this life the morning of August 30, 2016, surrounded by his loving family and caregivers. A service celebrating Allen’s life will be held Friday, September 9 at Greater Grace, Benton Harbor. Allen was born and resided in Benton Harbor. He was the fifth child born to the late Joe Willie and Pearline Stubbs Willis. Family was a big part of his life and he left several memories in the hearts of family and friends. Allen enjoyed cooking, singing, dancing and joking around. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army and he worked for Dave’s Fruit Have, owned Big Al’s Burgers and More and latter working in several establishments as a cook. He became famous for the Big Al Burger and the Twisted Sister.
Allen is survived by his wife, Gloria McKinney Willis; daughters, Tara Willis, Tesah Willis, Erica McKinney, Tenisa Moore and Tiffanie Willis; sons, Torianto (Angela) Johnson and Allen Willis Jr.; sisters, Joyce Clay, Janice Clay, Gloris (John) Reiner, Elaine (Maurice) Henry and Mary Jo Willis; brothers, Grady Clay, James Clay and Charles Willis; cousin and friend, James (Reece) Willis; 27 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents.
