
Ann Arent, 87, formerly of Coloma, passed away, Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Whitcomb Towers in St. Joseph, where she most recently resided.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 10, 2016 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Chaplain Julie Leahy officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home. Ann was born June 23, 1929 in Chicago to Raymond & Josephine (Scimeca) Bradley. Her family moved to Southwest Michigan and Ann attended Benton Harbor High School. On July 26, 1952, Ann married Norman Arent in St. Joseph. She worked for several years at V-M Corp. in Benton Harbor and later at Crystal Springs Florist, however she devoted her time to caring for her home and her family. Ann was a World Class homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, gardener, seamstress, dancer and gopher hunter. She was a member of the Bainbridge United Methodist Church Women’s Circle and enjoyed the time spent as a 4-H leader.
Ann is survived by her children-Cindy (Doug) Thompson of Auburn, IN, Linda (Duane) Fischer of Stevensville, Merry Arent of Buchanan, Bob (Kris) Arent of Zeeland, MI; five grandchildren-Rebecca (Adam) Parkison, Rachel Fischer, Karen (Joshua) Cavanaugh, Sarah Schlipp & Alex Arent; three great-grandchildren-Starlight Love, Maxwell Parkison & Aubree Ann Cavanaugh; siblings-Steve (Bev) DeMaria of Benton Harbor, Frank (Beth) DeMaria of Baroda, Kathy (Harold) Kasischke of St. Joseph; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law-Norris (Margaret) Arent, Mardell Arent, Noreen Sonnenberg, Dolly Arent, Joann Langland, & Lois Arent; and numerous nieces & nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Norman on February 22, 1989, her father Raymond Bradley, her mother & step-father Josephine (Leon) DeMaria, her brother Jack DeMaria; brothers-in-law & sister-in-law-Noble Arent, Art Sonnenberg, Tilferd Arent, Carl Arent, Wesley Arent & Marilyn Arent, and a special friend Richard Plangger.
