Charles Wayne Phillips

Charles Wayne Phillips, 71, of Niles, Michigan, passed away on February 18, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

On August 24, 1951, Charles was born in Watervliet, to the late Victor Roosevelt and Lou Emma (Walker) Phillips.

After high school, Charles served his country proudly in the U. S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge in 1973. On September 14, 1990, Charles married Jeanette Marie Long at a ceremony in Paducah, Kentucky. Charles operated his own roofing company for many years. He looked forward to quiets days fishing on the lake and enjoyed a hard day’s work. Charles was an amputee but never let that stop him from anything he wanted to accomplish. His fighting spirit, determined to get through each and every surgery or procedure, will always be remembered by his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Victor “Eugene” Phillips, Jimmy Phillips and James Phillips.

Surviving Charles is his loving wife, Jeannette M. Phillips of Niles; his son, David (Brenda) Phillips of Buchanan; grandchildren, Kay, Jamie and Dominic White, Jazmin, Cameron and Alexis Phillips and his siblings, Jeannette (Dennis Replogle) Phillips of South Bend, Ray (Sylvia) Phillips Robert and Robert (Terrie) Phillips.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so in Charles’s memory to his family.

Charles family will gather at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan where Full Military Honors will be rendered.
