Velma “Louise” Wadley, 87, formerly of Lincoln Township passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Laurels of Galesburg.
Services celebrating her life will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, October 19, at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends and relatives may begin calling at 11 AM up to the 1 PM service time. Memorials may be made to the Centrica Hospice Care in Kalamazoo. Please share messages or memories at www.florin.net.
Louise was born on July 27, 1936 in Savannah, Tennessee to Clarence and Ida Doyle. She married her husband, Clyde Wadley, on March 6, 1976 in St. Louis, Missouri and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2003. Together they had 37 years of marriage. Louise was a waitress in many of local restaurants until her retirement. She enjoyed shopping and listening to country and Christian music. Louise was an outgoing individual with a sense of humor. Her laugh was contagious for other people. Louise enjoyed her pets, especially her dog “Trixie”.
Her family includes her children, Deborah (Jim) McCaig of Eau Claire and Jerry (Barbara) Wheeler of Augusta, Michigan; her grandchildren, Ryan Hogute, Michelle Story, Lisa McCaig, Brad Wheeler and Bryce Wheeler; her 2 great grandchildren; and her sisters, Shirley Freeman of Beaumont, Texas, Judith Harper of Bremen, Indiana, Janet Jones of Searcy, Arkansas, Linda Benson of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Doris Yates, Searcy, Arkansas, and Mary Kinder of Searcy, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael; her 3 brothers, Pete, Joe, and Jerry; and her 2 sisters, Ruby, and Helen Sue.
