James M. Kehoe Jr., aged 82, from Galien, MI., passed away on April 23, 2025. Born on February 10, 1943, in Chicago, IL. James was the son of the late James M. Kehoe and Lorraine (Pionke) Kehoe of Union Pier, MI.

James was preceded by his first wife Margaret (Peg) Hix. Then Linda K. Rabelow, who also preceded him in 2012. His heart found companionship once again with his girlfriend, Linda Gugliotta, who survives him, of Niles, MI.

James was a blessing to his children: Tammy Kehoe, Nancy (Bill) Yarbrough, Dana (David) Eichman, James (Crystal) Kehoe III, and Bruce (Tabatha) Kehoe. He had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a steady and strong presence in their lives. They will remember him for his simple wishes, loyalty, kindness, patience, and generous spirit.

James was the oldest of 9 children, his siblings, Kathleen (James) Ziska, Maureen (Walter) Wover, Janice (John) Kenna, Gayl (J.C.) German, Lawrence (Ada) Kehoe, Michael (Kathleen) Kehoe, Brian Kehoe, and Robert (Estela) Kehoe. He always enjoyed family gatherings.

A proud graduate of New Buffalo High School, James’s thirst for knowledge and his hands-on approach to life were evident in his professional and personal endeavors. He honorably served his country as a United States Navy veteran, a chapter of his life that instilled in him a sense of duty and camaraderie that he carried throughout his years.

James retired as a respected electrical contractor, a career that showcased his meticulous nature and problem-solving abilities. His work ethic and leadership were admired by colleagues and clients alike, leaving a mark of excellence on every project he touched.

Beyond his professional life, James was an active member of American Legion Post 51 and the AMVETS, where he would socialize and enjoyed being among fellow patriots and veterans.

James’s inquisitive mind and skilled hands meant he was never idle. He loved to fix things and putz around, teaching himself to repair most electronic items after retiring. His home was a testament of his handiwork and ingenuity.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Hoven Funeral Home, 414 E. Front St. Buchanan, MI from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a military presentation at 7:00 p.m. Private burial will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery.
