Sandy Marie Askew

Sandy Marie Askew, 47 of Benton Harbor was called home to be with her Lord September 1, 2017 at home. A service celebrating her life will be held September 15 at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Benton Harbor. The visitation begins at 11 a.m. followed by the funeral at 12 noon. Sandy was born November 22, 1969 in St. Joseph to Shirley Ann Clark and Tyree Wilburn. After graduating from Benton Harbor High School in 1987, she continued to further her education at Lake Michigan College. Sandy was a member of Word of Truth Deliverance Church under the leadership of Bishop James Hightower. She was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother and friend that loved shopping, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Sandy is survived by her father, Tyree Wilburn, Benton Harbor; son, Eric (Carol) King, Benton Harbor; siblings, Rashonda Wilburn, Columbus, OH, Marie Wilburn, Indianapolis, Barbara (Ray) Collins, Pontiac, Jessica (Dwan) McKinney, Benton Harbor, Brianna Wilburn, Benton Harbor, Anthony (Dawn) Wilburn, Bedford, TX, Tyrone (As Ma) Wilburn, Atlanta, Terrill Rose, Benton Harbor; grandchildren, Zoey Lea King and Isabella Marie Fletcher; special aunt, Flossie M Phillips; friends, Lisa, Ernie and JoJo; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Ann Clark; brother, Tyree Wilburn Jr; paternal grandmothers, Mary McCray, Cohrn, Mama Lille Wilburn Buntyn.
