
James “Don” Poziwilko, 90 died on September 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Services celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel Hill Methodist Church, 4071 Naomi Rd. Sodus. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sodus. Meet with family and friends at 10:00 until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Chapel Hill Methodist Church. Don was born September 7th, 1927 in Benton Harbor, the first of 5 sons and one daughter to James and Laurel (Badgley) Poziwilko. He enlisted in the Army and served as a corporal in the US Army postal service stationed in Germany during WWII. He married “the only women I ever loved”, (Chloe) Johanna Beezley, on August 19, 1950. Shortly after, he served in the Navy during the Korean War. He enjoyed farming, rebuilding motorcycles and dune buggies. He was the Maintenance Superintendent at Auto Specialties in Benton Harbor and then later at Victaulic Corporation of America in Easton, PA where he finished his career. He also created and taught the first electrical certification course at Lake Michigan College.
He retired to Sodus, MI where he enjoyed golfing, woodworking, tinkering in his shop, gardening and having every other Sunday breakfast with his brothers. Later he enjoyed meeting friends at Meijer and discussing world events and spending lots of time with his children, in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years; his sons Rodney (Deb) Poziwilko, James (Polly) Poziwilko; daughters Lorilie (Fred) Summerfelt, Deborah (Jeff) Burm and Gina (Craig) Steinke; eleven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his beloved great grandson, Thomas J. Elliott.
