
Lucy G. Coombs, 92 of Coloma passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
Services celebrating her life will be held 2 pm Tuesday, Dec 12 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where the family will begin receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Coloma Cemetery. Donations in memory of Lucy may be made to Hanson Hospice Center. Lucy was born September 19, 1925 in Brundidge, Alabama to Martin and Fronie (Hurst) McClendon. She was formerly employed by Saluto’s in Benton Harbor and the Watervliet Fruit Exchange. She was also an active member of the Living Word Church of God in Coloma. On July 2, 1949 Lucy married the love of her life, Vern W. Coombs, Sr. In her free time she enjoyed doing yard work, coloring, playing rummy, doing word searches but most of all she was great at just being the best mom who truly loved her kids.
Survivors include one daughter Penny (David) Moss of Paw Paw; two sons Vern W. Coombs Jr., of Coloma, and Joseph W. (Tracy) Coombs of St Joseph; eight grandchildren, Thomas (Ashley) Kolenko, Breaunna Moss, Lauren Coombs, Natalie Coombs, Lindsey Coombs, Nicole (Sanjeev) Patel, Jordan Gagliardo, Ryan Meagher, and five great grandchildren, Ariella Kolenko, Camden Kolenko, Laila Coombs, Nahla Patel, and Norah Patel.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Vern in 2008 and a son Tim Coombs in 2011.
