
Irene Albrecht, 93, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph.
Irene was born on April 16, 1925 in Gillett, AR to Gustav & Bertha (Rudowske) Lehman. Her family moved to Berrien Springs when she was 12 years old. She met Alfred Albrecht at Williams Brothers Box Factory in St. Joseph and they were married on May 15, 1948 in St. Joseph at Trinity Lutheran Church. For over 50 years she was employed by Crystal Springs Florist in Benton Harbor.
A devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Irene was active with the Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, Funeral Committee, American Red Cross Blood Drives, and Vacation Bible School. She also enjoyed working in her yard, songbirds, and needlepoint. Her family cherishes the pieces she made for them over the years. A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, she will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Irene is survived by her children, Dennis (Danette) Albrecht of Sodus and Philip (Mary) Albrecht of Muskegon; grandchildren, Amanda, Kathryn, and Kristen; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; siblings, Victor, Dora, Louise, Emma, Mabel, Della, Nancy, and Leonard; and granddaughter Heather Herman.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 609 Court St., St. with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.
