Farm History Day

Open to area schools, homeschoolers, and the public, Farm History Day is a hands-on educational event where kids (and adults) can experience life as it was on early-American farms through a series of hands-on activities, working displays and a wide variety of exhibits. During the day, students can learn how to dip candles, churn butter, and make rope while watching the blacksmith pound iron and see logs cut into lumber. Swap Meet/Flea Market

Over 120 vendors sell everything from antiques to flowers at this two-day event. A fundraiser for the museum, the Swap Meet originally started as a place for collectors to sell, swap and buy antique farm equipment parts. Since it’s inception over 20 years ago, the Swap Meet has evolved into one of the largest annual flea markets in the area. Admission is $2 per person. Selling fee is $20 per vendor. There is no space limit . No pre-registration accepted. Registration starts on Thursday at 8 a.m. Pets allowed only with sellers and campers and must stay at campsites. Camping available for non-sellers. $20 per night plus admission. Electric- $15. Personal Transportation Vehicles Registration (golf carts, Gators etc) $20. Antique Engine & Tractor Show

One of the largest shows of its kind in the state, the 39th annual Antique Engine and Tractor Show hosted by the Michigan Flywheelers Museum in South Haven, MI features hundreds of old farm machinery, demonstrations, parades, live entertainment, plenty of kids activities and more. The four day show runs Thursday, Sept. 8 through Sunday, Sept. 11 and is are filled with things to see and do for the entire family. You can munch on an ear of buttery sweet corn cooked in an old steam engine, watch antique and garden tractor pulls, try your hand at the Flywheel Toss or sit down in the Stephenson Barn and listen to music. Admission is $10 with kids 12 and under free with paid admission. Thursday is Seniors Day-admission is $5 for those 62 and over. Sunday Special – admission only $5. Pets allowed only with campers, exhibitors and vendors and must stay at camp site at all times. Personal Transportation Vehicle Registration (golf carts, Gators etc.)- $20.
