Lorraine Ruth Bossenga

Lorraine Ruth Bossenga, 87, of South Haven, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 18, 2016. She passed away at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was born August 14, 1928 to William and Lillian (Schmidt) Bossenga in Chicago, Illinois. Lorraine attended Calvin College and completed her Masters Degree in Biology at the University of Michigan. She began her long career in teaching as a professor of Biology at Chicago Christian High School, Timothy Christian High School, Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois, and finally at Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois. Lorraine enjoyed nature, bird-watching, photography, and she traveled extensively throughout the United States. She visited every state in the union, except Alaska. Her travels also included a trip to the Panama Canal and overseas to Europe. She enjoyed listening to Christian music and especially reading her many Bibles. Lorraine was a member of Hope Reformed Church in South Haven and loved being a leader of many bible study groups.

She is survived by her loving sister – Joyce (Don) Braschler of South Haven. “Favorite Aunt Lor” to her niece Cheryl (Dan) Shubert, and nephews David (Barrie) Braschler and Douglas (Beth) Braschler. Great aunt to Catherine Shubert, James Shubert, Benjamin (Amy) Braschler, William Braschler, Galib Braschler, Allie, Baye Lee, and Jenna Braschler.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Hope Reformed Church in South Haven. Lorraine will be laid to rest at North Shore Memorial Gardens in Coloma, Michigan.
