She was born on January 18, 1926 in Mishawaka, Indiana, to John C. and Avis (Reel) Geist. She graduated from Mishawaka High School.
Phyllis lived most of her life in Niles and was known for her incredible crafting talents which included flower arranging, millinery or hat making, and lovely hand-made greeting cards. She was an excellent cook and prided herself on her wonderful homemade meals and enjoyed sharing recipes.
Surviving family includes Phyllis’s children: Linda Vite; Janine (& David) Sharrard; Jerry (& Terry) French; JoAnn (& John) McCahill; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil Liggett, and her sister, Juanita F. Young.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church of Niles, Michigan.
