David Carl Noffke, loving son of the late Helen and Herbert Noffke, age 68, of St. Joseph, died peacefully in his sleep the morning of Sunday, November 5, 2017.  A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Starks and Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI.  Friends may visit from 2-4 Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of SW Michigan. Those wishing to sign David’s guestbook or leave a message of condolence for the family may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com.

David leaves, to cherish his memory, his loving partner and best friend, Loren Sue Zakarias, of St. Joseph, his loving daughter Veronica (Noffke) Broderick, his son-in-law Rhett Broderick, and his two beautiful granddaughters, Naomi and Harper Broderick, all of Hailey, Idaho.  David’s memory will also be carried on by Loren’s four daughters who loved him deeply, Carrie Kindrick of Ann Arbor, Darcy Parsons of St. Joseph, Wendy Zakarias of Portage and Samantha Martin of Wyoming, MI.  He also leaves behind Loren’s six grandchildren who saw him as a grandfather as well.  David loved to make all of his grandchildren laugh.

David had many, many friends and he cherished them all.  He was the kindest and most giving man, and would do anything for his family and friends.  He loved all animals, and could not pass a dog on the street without stopping to play.  He would do anything to be sure they all had a loving home.

David was born in Kansas City, MO on August 30, 1949.  He grew up in Benton Harbor, MI and graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1967.  He received his college degree from Concordia University in Ann Arbor, MI.  He lived the majority of his life in Benton Harbor, Ann Arbor, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Boulder, CO and finally St. Joseph.  He worked as a Respiratory Therapist until he retired in 2011.  David loved traveling, and visited many places throughout the world.  He was an exceptional golfer–never missing a game with his buddies. He also enjoyed playing tennis, diving, skiing, and music–attending concerts whenever he could. His biggest love, however, was spending time with his family and friends.

David was a beautiful soul who touched the lives of many. He lived a wonderful life and was grateful for his many blessings. Gone much too soon, he will be missed more than words can express. While he travels the world from heaven, we will all carry his kindness, warmth, humor, and spirit in our hearts.
