Gene Artry Sanders, 64, of Benton Harbor, Michigan formerly of Dell, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on February 7, 2019, at Lakeland Hospital. He was born February 23, 1954, to David and Rose Ella Sanders in Blytheville, Arkansas.
He attended Dell Elementary and Dell High School. In 1975 he married Martha Echols and to this union, two children were born, Betty and Lekessia of Dell, Arkansas.
Gene (Nick) resided in Arkansas for many years where he worked in the local Cotton Gin as well as many different farms and he drove various equipment such as Combine Machinery and Cotton Pickers until his health begins to fail.
Gene enjoyed the outdoors, he loved to fish, play his lottery numbers, tell jokes, long embellished stories, he loved to eat, he loved his family and he never had trouble telling anyone exactly what was on his mind.
Gene Sanders is survived by his children Betty (Percy) Wright of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Lekessia (Terry) Northern also of Blytheville, Arkansas. Siblings Sister Ellen (Rev. Solomon) Black, Brothers David Sanders, Harry (Nanette) Sanders all Benton Harbor, Michigan.
Six grandchildren – Daydreanda, Terry Jr. Northern, Jeremiah Northern, Devontaye Johnson, Averyon Robinson and Alicia Wright all of Arkansas, and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving lifelong friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David Sanders and Rose Ella Sanders, his Sister Helen (Rose) Sanders, brothers Willie Earl Sanders and Charles Perry.
A celebration of life visitation service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, 204 S Fair Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022 with just a visitation from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Funeral services are entrusted to Robbins Brothers Funeral Home.
