James H. “Jim” Flippo

James Herbert “Jim” Flippo, 79, of Stevensville, MI, passed away peacefully in his home on May 20, 2022.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 27, 2022, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Jim was born April 9, 1943 in Newark, Arkansas, to Sybil and Rodman Flippo. He graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1961. Shortly after graduating from high school, he began his career in the trades as a painter. He began working at C. L. Wolff & Sons painting company and shortly thereafter joined the International Union of Painters and Allied Trade. After owning his own painting company, he began painting at the Cook Nuclear Plant and became more active in the union. He served as the president of the union for a period before returning to his painting roots, ultimately retiring in 2006 after 43 years in the business.
Jim enjoyed spending his retirement years relaxing and spending time with his beloved wife, Dee (Delores Ruff) of 59 years, family, and close friends. He thoroughly enjoyed quiet time and keeping in touch with his sons, grandchildren, siblings, nephews, nieces, and friends in person, on the phone, and even via text. Jim was always willing to offer his advice that would commonly come in the form of a joke to keep everyone’s spirits up. Jim was a caring man to everyone he encountered and never had any difficulty striking up a conversation.
Jim is survived by his wife, Delores (Ruff); son, Brad (Mary) Flippo of Philadelphia, PA; grandson, Joseph Flippo; granddaughter, Olivia Flippo; brother, Bob R. Clement Euwn Holtz

Clement E. Holtz, 80, of Niles, passed away on May 17, 2022 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana.
He was born on September 20, 1941 in Bradford, Arkansas to the late Clarence and Irene (Ritchie) Holtz.
On April 14, 1959, he married the former, Sandra Hecht, to that union two daughters were born, the marriage lasted nineteen years, and even though it ended in divorce, they remained friends. He later married Helen Ditch, who he also divorced later on and still remained great friends.
Clement retired from Buchanan Steel, where he spent most of his working career. In his free time you could find him either fishing or repairing small engines. He loved stopping at garage sales, hoping to find that next treasure. Clement loved his church and his church family.
Clement was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Eldon Ritchie, Danny Ritchie, and Luedean Crespo.
He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Michael) Maynard of Elkhart; Shelli Draper (Tim Hebner) of Niles; step-son, David Jenkins of Niles; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Bruce Ritchie of Niles; Tim (Linda) Ritchie of Searcy, Arkansas; Emerson Ritchie, of Niles; ex-wives, Sandra Hecht-Holtz and Helen Ditch-Holtz. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 from noon until 1:00pm at Brown Funeral Home in Niles.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home with committal services at Silverbrook Cemetery.
He lived by the philosophy that if you want more left overs, return the bowls.
Memorial contributions may be made in Clement’s name may be directed to the St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Michael Allen Parsell

Michael Allen Parsell, 30, of Lawrence, MI. passed away Wednesday May 11, 2022. Michael was born in El Paso, Texas, on January 31, 1992, Mike was the son of Linda (McDaniel) Hall and Kevin Parsell. A graduate of Lawrence High School in 2011. Mike could play music by ear on the piano and guitar. He was also a painter with many other artistic talents. As a very industrious individual, Mike was an avid cannabis farmer, construction worker and family man. He was dedicated soul mate to Sam and a loving father to his sons.
