Donna Eleanor Ranzinger, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2019 in Berrien Springs, MI.  She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Oscar Ranzinger and their children; Corinne Van Arsdale, Mark Ranzinger, Yvonne Ranzinger, Melonee Patterson & Rachelle Hartkopf; Grandchildren, Brent & Trevor Jones, Andrew, Abri and Elliott (deceased) Ranzinger, Aidan & Kiera Patterson and Alena Hartkopf; Sister Christine Cassidy; brothers, George Kuzma and Jan Kuzma (deceased). She was born in Brodnica, Poland on July 20, 1932 to Elizabeth (Gartz) & William Kuzma. She immigrated to the US through a sponsor family in Texas and then the family relocated to the Detroit area for its large Polish community. She met Oscar at a church social event and they were married Jan. 1, 1958 in Detroit, MI.... ...Read Full Story

Glenn William Pietenpol

Glenn William Pietenpol, 76, of South Haven, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. He was born March 6, 1942 to Archie and Irene (TenHaken) Pietenpol in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. Glenn earned his BA from Hope College, his Masters in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame, and his National Graduate Trust Degree from Northwestern University. Mary Louise Ray

Mary Lou Louise Ray nee Pletcher, 82, of New Troy, MI, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019.
She was born December 20, 1936. Her parents were Lloyd and Faye nee Willingham Pletcher. On August 9, 1958, she married Charles N. Ray in Three Oaks, MI, where they lived for 40 years, moving to New Troy, MI in 1998. She lived her whole life in Berrien County, attending New Troy High School. She was a member of the New Troy Brethren Church. She professed Jesus Christ as her Saviour and tried always to do His will.
She held various jobs in her life time, but her most important one was wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
In passing she leaves behind a son, Curtis Allen Ray; a daughter, Rebecca (Erik) Shriber; two grandsons, Joshua Ray Shriber, and Wyatt James Shriber.
Proceeding her in death are her parents Lloyd and Faye; husband, Charles; son, Lloyd Ray; and brother, James L. Pletcher.

Gary Ray Hall

Gary’s life began August 15, 1947 in Centralia, Illinois.  Gary grew up in South Haven where he graduated high school.  After high school Gary proudly served his country in the United States Airforce.   He worked as maintenance supervisor at Heathkit/Zenith for 30 years.  Currently he was working for Harbor Shores and Evergreen Development. Gary also helped maintain the Harbor Shores neighborhoods in addition to helping at the Harbor Shores Golf Clubhouse.  Gary had many friends among the homeowners and will be missed by all of them.  Gary enjoyed golfing, deer hunting, taking walks in the woods, attending grandchildren’s sporting events, a supporter of Watervliet Athletics, and a huge Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan.... ...Read Full Story

Brenda Abbott

Brenda L. Abbott, 58, of Battle Creek, passed away at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, February 8, 2019, following an illness.
She was born on October 6, 1960 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Franklin and Patricia (Barland) Sayles.
Brenda married James Abbott, Sr. and they recently celebrated 29 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gary Sayles.
Brenda is survived by her husband, James Abbott, Sr.; her children, Treasa (Dennie) Smith, Tonya Lower (Shawn Vanderpool), Tabitha Lower (Robbie Malcolm), Sean (Amy) Bish, George Abbott, Jimmy Abbott, Jr. (Michelle Thorp), Kim (Larry) Wyman and Nathan (Frankie) Hatch; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Pam Lower and a brother, Daniel Sayles. She will also be missed by the many hearts she has touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Apostolic Church at 6900 E. Drive N. in Battle Creek, with Pastor Douglas Fleury officiating.
